Join our Cal State brothers and sisters in telling the CSU Trustees to make banks pay for refunding public education.  As students (Cal State and UC) from all over northern California converge on the UC Regents’ meeting in San Francisco, those of us in southern California will be converging in Long Beach to demonstrate our power in opposing fee increases at any public university.

 In conjunction with a recent nationally televised teach-in organized by Francis Fox Piven and Cornel West, Urban Planning students and faculty will be hosting a discussion about how the California budget crisis, planned austerity measures and privatization are affecting the UC system and access to higher education, and what we can do about it.

Speakers include SPA students, faculty, representatives from UCLA unions representing service workers, lecturers, teaching assistants and professional staff.  We’ll also be screening highlights from the national teach-in that took place April 5th (more info, see

This is the first contested election in our union’s recent history and AWDU is running an incredible, full slate of candidates who have been fighting to democratize, mobilize, and strengthen our union.
